Branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) take part in regulating protein metabolism, and can also be used by the muscles as an energy source when needed.
BCAAs have anabolic effects on the metabolism of protein by way of increasing rate of protein synthesis and also decreasing rate of protein degradation in muscle.
Supplying muscles with extra BCAAs may help protect against exercise related muscle damage, and can also help build more calorie burning muscle.
